Décès de King Sporty a pioneer of the Miami reggae scene!

Noel G. Williams,  better known as King Sporty, avec la collaboration de Bob Marley c'est:

Le musicien, DJ, producer , né à Portland ( Jamaïque) en 1943 mais vivant à Miami depuis 1970 nous a quittés ce lundi, son épouse, la soul singer Betty Wright, était à ses côtés.
Sporty commence sa carrière en tant que deejay au Studio One sous la tutelle du célèbre Coxsone Dodd.
Il signe un premier hit en 1965, "El Cid", crédité à King Sporty and Justin Yap.
Après avoir mis le cap vers la Floride, il poursuit ses activités de producer et de musicien et sort un premier album sous son nom en 1977,  'Mr. Rhythm'.
Son reggae se teinte dorénavant de funk, de disco et d'electro.
Il enregistre plusieurs disques sous différentes étiquettes, dont  King Sporty and The Root Rockers, King Sporty And The Ex Tras, Noel Williams and The Extra Funk Factory ou Sporty and The Laptop.
Une anecdote son 'Self Destruct" a été samplé par Justin Timberlake pour le titre"That Girl".
