Austin is saying goodbye to Sarah Elizabeth Campbell

Il y a deux jours la singer- songwriter Sarah McQuaid affichait sur  le journal de son facebook: "So sorry to read of the death early this morning of Sarah Elizabeth Campbell. I did a spot at a songwriter night she hosted in Austin around 3 years ago and have kept in touch with her via Facebook ever since. I'll miss seeing her regular "Goodnight Moon" posts here. So sad."


 Sarah Elizabeth Campbell avait 60 ans, elle est décédée des suites d'un cancer au foie.
Si Sarah Elizabeth était peu  connue de ce côté de l'Atlantique, elle était considérée comme une icône de la Austin scene.
Dans les seventies elle joue avec le bluegrass band  The Fiddlesticks pour revenir à Austin une dizaine d'années plus tard et entamer une carrière de singer-songwriter.
Son premier album solo 'Little Tenderness' sort en 1990.
Le CD 'Running With You' sera nominé pour le Best Folk Album of the Year NAIRD Award.
Plusieurs de ses titres ont été repris par de grands noms de la scène country rock ricaine, citons Jim Messina, Rick Danko et Levon Helm (of the Band) ou  Blue Rose...
