R.I.P. GITTA WALTHER-MACKAY (Annaberg June 14, 1940 - Annaberg October 10, 2014)
I'm very sad to announce that our beloved Gitta passed away yesterday. The granddaughter Nina of her brother Ehrenfried Walther let us know.
She was ill for a while and fighting her battle that she lost now.
Gitta was The Voice of Munich, she started her career as Gitta Walther.
In the sixties she joined Die Cornely Singers, later Love Generation.
She had a solo career under the names Simone and "Jackie Robinson" (Hit record: "Moving Like A Superstar" no. 5 in US 1976).
She was the frontwoman of The Hornettes and her voice can be heard on countless records as a backing vocalist for a.o. Donna Summer, Silver Convention, Penny McLean, Amanda Lear, LaBionda, Giorgio Moroder, etc.
In 2011 she released her autobiography 'Sängerin von The Hornettes: ein Leben wie ein bunter Regenbogen'.
I wish her husband Joerg, the Walther family a lot of strength in the period that lay ahead.
She will be missed. R.I.P. dear Gitta and thank you for brightening up our lives with your talent and personality.

Effectivement Gitta a connu quelques hits dans les sixties, a changé d'identité une dizaine de fois et restera célèbre pour avoir été une des voix sur le megatube disco  de Silver Convention 'Fly, robin, fly'.
